Joe Arnett

Meet Joe

Joe Arnett, M.S., was born and raised in Upper Arlington, OH and moved to California to work as a youth minister. Joe graduated from Chapman University in 1997 with a bachelors of arts in Religion with an emphasis in youth ministry, and the University of Redlands in 2001 with a master of science in Interactive Telecommunication.

He and his wife Margie, bought their home in San Bernardino in 2002, and rebuilt it after the "Old Fire" devastated the north San Bernardino neighborhoods in October 2003.

Joe has worked with youth and young adults for over 10 years, participating in, organizing and directing christian youth events and service projects for hundreds.  When asked, what he has liked best about youth ministry? Joe humbly says, "Making a difference.  Having a positive impact in someone's life is something special and when you connect with someone on that level, both our lives change." Joe has served as the treasurer for his church and has volunteered on numerous mission and work projects.

He believes in renewable energy and being a good steward of the earth's natural resources. His home is solar powered and the lawn is watered by a controller which downloads weather information by satellite ensuring plants are not over-watered. He utilizes energy efficient resources whenever possible, recycles, and uses 'reusable' grocery bags.

Joe enjoys his role managing the Educational Support Services (ESS) department at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Educational Support Service provides print and electronic media resources for faculty, administration, students and staff in all areas of dental education, research and technology. In his spare time he enjoys photography, OSU football (Go Bucks!), hiking, camping, fishing, golfing, playing guitar, riding his horse on the trails of the San Bernardino mountains, and his motorcycle all over Southern California.

Meet Joe's wife Margie

Margie Arnett, M.S., was born, raised and educated in San Bernardino. She received the President’s scholarship upon her graduation at San Bernardino Valley College, earned a degree in English from Whittier College and a Master’s in Kinesiology from CSU Fullerton.

Margie has volunteered for many organizations over the years: as a float decorator, blood donor, food drives, juvenile hall programs, foster children, tutoring local H.S. students, pet placements, and as a member of the praise team, choir, bell choir and church council member. She has also acted in numerous plays and productions. Currently she is Vice President of the San Bernardino Court Appointed Special Advocates(CASA). Child Advocates of San Bernardino County recruit and train volunteers to advocate for foster youth. CASA volunteers provide stability and hope to abused and neglected children. Please visit www.casaofsb.org for more information.

She loves her job as an Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and works in the Office of the Dean. For the past 4 years, she has encouraged graduating dentists to give back to their communities, by volunteering at community clinics and has received positive results. She is the Chair of the Tobacco Treatment Committee at LLUSD, and also serves on their Diversity Committee.

Everybody loves a parade and Margie is no exception. She has ridden horses in countless parades, and has been featured in two Tournament of Roses Parades as a float rider.

She believes Margaret Mead’s quote, "A small group of thoughtful people can change the world….it always has."
